About Me
I am a Graphic Designer and Illustrator living in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
I grew up and did my studies in Graphic Design at La Salle University in Mexico City. While at La Salle University, I participated in an exchange program scholarship that took me to Emily Carr University of Art and Design (Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design then), in Vancouver for six months. Once a graduate, I worked in Mexico City for a couple of years at the renowned publishing house Artes de Mexico. After moving to Canada, I began to explore my illustration skills further. Since that time, I have worked on the design of many children’s books and a number of other design and illustration projects.
I have been recognized both in Mexico and Canada for my design work. In Canada I have been recognized various times by the Alcuin Society Awards for Excellence in Book Design including one honorable mention for my very own picture book: Picturescape. Picturescape was also one of five nominees for the 2006 Chritie Harris Illustrated Children’s Literature Prize, part of the BC book prizes.
Since I became a graphic designer I have had the privilege of working with many exceptionally talented people. I have learned from them, been inspired by them and most definitely been touched and transformed by their influences. From designers, illustrators, printmakers, artists, to writers, editors and publishers; from environmental coordinators, cartographers, and planners to software developers, programmers and animators; from entrepreneurs to people with very personal projects… It has been incredibly stimulating!
My wish for this blog (although it may take me some time to achieve this) is for it to be a space where I can introduce myself and my work, but also where I can honour and recognize all of the wonderful people who have made me a better designer.
Thank you for visiting and for your interest. I also thank you in advance for your patience, since I will probably not be able to do updates very frequently, but then again, who knows?
My best wishes,
Elisa
